Project Description

Chevron White Oak Entry Floor

The clients asked if Floor Master Co could come up with some special type of pattern for the main entrance foyer area. They decided on a chevron pattern with one-inch walnut stripes.

Because it was a last minute decision, Floor Master US couldn't wait for the manufacturer to mill and ship them all needed hardwood materials so they decided to mill it by themselves!

Starting with 5" solid white oak planks, they milled them to 5" x 22 ¼" chevron and did the same with 2 ¼" American walnut, milling it to 1" x 22¼" chevron.

On site, they bended 3 elements for the radius border.

For the finishing process they used Rubio Monocoat Precolor Easy "Intense Black" on the border and stair treads. Once the Precolor Easy was dry, Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C "Smoke" was applied to the entire surfaces. The result is a beautiful natural looking white oak, mixed with walnut accents, and a wonderfully cerused border and stair treads.
