Project Description

One World Café - IRO Timber

A vibrant new look for Torquay’s One World Cafe.

Torquay-based One World Café, which recently opened its doors following a six-month transformation, has unveiled a vibrant new look thanks to IRO Timber's internal cladding.

Project overview:
The owner of the café, Alex Souloud, wanted to capture the atmosphere of its previous use and utilise this to create a one world style music café, specialising in music, food and cocktails from across the globe. Alex had first heard about IRO Timber at Jewson Live in December 2018 and invited the team to the café, which was previously a one world shop, to discuss his requirements.

Endorsement statement:
"It was the wide variation and vibrancy of the colours which first attracted us to the IRO product. We wanted to honour the history of the café, so being able to see the finished product and the array of colours available was a big selling point for us. I would highly recommend IRO to anyone looking for a versatile yet high quality cladding or decking product. IRO was easy to use and source, the colour options are fantastic and it’s a great price. We found it was the perfect alternative to traditional oak or cedar products, and it really gave us the opportunity to be creative instead of just using paint.” - Alex Souloud

Client overview:
IRO Timber is a new and exclusive range of timber cladding and decking products that has been developed by the UK’s largest sawmilling group, BSW Timber. Inspired by the Japanese process of Yakisugi, IRO – which is Japanese for ‘colour’ – is 100% eco-friendly, UV stabled and HVOC-free.

IRO is available in a range of 15 colours, from driftwood to dragon fruit, that are each designed to add charm to both indoor and outdoor environments.

Because IRO is heat enhanced and coated/sealed with Rubio Woodcream, it is more durable and offers a more striking grain appearance that it’s traditional cladding and decking counterparts.

“It’s great to see IRO being used in such an innovative way which adds character and charisma to One World Café. Hopefully this will inspire others to get creative with IRO.” - Finlay Gilding, Sales Executive at IRO Timber

The IRO decorative cladding range contains no hazardous substances and is 100% eco-friendly. This means that as well as being a great coloured cladding product, it can also be used in both commercial and residential settings alike.
